NT: Beazley says govt has dropped ball on terror problem

KIM BEAZLEY says the federal government has dropped the ball on protecting us from
terrorist attacks.

Referring to a report that 200 jihadists will be sent to attack Jewish targets in countries
that support Israel .. the opposition leader says we have major security issues.

He says the government is great at passing laws .. but weak at protecting people on
the transport system and elsewhere.

Mr BEAZLEY's comments come amid reports the man charged with securing Australia's transport
system .. former Federal Police commissioner MICK PALMER .. has resigned from a Northern
Territory inquiry into Aboriginal child abuse.

Media reports suggest he's stood down because of other work commitments.

Mr BEAZLEY says Mr PALMER needs to ensure people are protected from terrorists.
