'SECRETS' MIXTURE OF FUNNY, POIGNANT.(LIFE & LEISURE)

"Family Secrets" is yet another play in which a writer-actor presents a family, acting all the parts. The good ones mining that familiar at-home territory have something fresh to say.

And "Family Secrets" -- they're New Yorkers who took the accent to California -- is a good one.

It also includes the most harrowing, realistic and funny scene of labor and giving birth we've ever seen on a stage. Some may find it too painful to watch.
